DAVID WATERS (1793 – 17 Feb 1869) was born in South Ireland the son of parents unknown.
David immigrated to the United States and soon made his way to South Carolina where he married Mary Gillespie in about 1822. David and Mary lived in Chester County, South Carolina where they had six children of record:
- Thomas Waters (1823 – Unknown)
- David Patterson Waters (1824 – 1887)
- John Waters (1830 – Unknown)
- Esther F Waters (1832 – Unknown)
- Margaret J Waters (1835 – 1906)
- Nancy Elizabeth Waters (1837 – 1875)
David and Mary remained in Chester County until their deaths. Mary died in about 1860 and David about 10 years later on 17 Feb 1869 at age 76.

Esther Waters married Edward Steadman (cousin to Ancel Green). She died sometime between the 1880 census and January 3, 1889, when Edward remarried.
