Hello, I am hunting information on John B. Reid, Griffin, Ga. Died 1860 was married to Sarah F. Blanton in 1830.
I am interested in tracing any descendants of Thomas McDowall (1793-1825) son of John McDowall and Anne Beggs of Cairnryan, Scotland, who emigrated to US in about 1810 with his brother, James. Thomas married Ann Reid in Richmond County, Georgia on 30 December 1818 and had 2 daughters, Elizabeth (married to Dr Wm Cumming of Toronto) and Susan (married to Mr Stewart). Any information would be gratefully received.

For years my mother and her siblings searched to confirm their grandfather’s name. Through 23andme dna testing we were able to determine that John Brewer Reid of Griffin Georgia was the father of my grandfather Thomas Reid. His mother was Kitty Reid. She and 94 others took on the surname Reid upon Emancipation. If there are any stories that anyone would kindly share please pass on, it would be greatly appreciated. We have a photo of my grandfather with two couples. The men appear to be twins.
