John Reid was appointed Sheriff for Amherst County by Governor of Colony under seal dated 2 May 1761. He is hereby bonded to collect all fines, Quitrents, forfeitures, and Americaments and to pay them to His Majesty’s Revenues on or before the second Tuesday in June annually. James Woods for natural love and affection for his daughter, Mary Woods, and for the better maintenance and livelihood of her, conveys to her and lawfully begotten heirs of body 200 acres in Amherst County and negro boy named Adam. I thought you might want to correct two entries above. The two entries that list property on Halls Creek are actually Hatt Creek (Francis Steele on one of them is my ancestor). I am still trying to find exactly where this property is.
