NANCY A REID (ABLES) (1807 – aft 1870) was born in Oglethorpe County, Georgia to Jacob Reid and Elizabeth (Mary) Staton.
Nancy married John F. Ables in Oglethorpe County, Georgia on 9 Oct 1827. The marriage was performed by Eliza Holtzclaw, Justice of the Peace. Nancy and John had 4 children of record, all born in Georgia:
- Joseph F Ables (1836 – Unknown), married Adaline Unknown in Georgia about 1851
- Lorenzo D Ables (1838 – Unknown), married Mary Pruitt on 29 Aug 1865 in Fulton County, Georgia.
- Jane C Ables(1841 – 1926), married Hugh Henderson 12 Feb 1863 in Fulton County, Georgia. Married Rufus M Henderson in 1875 in Talladega County, Alabama
- Andrew J Ables (1846 – Unknown), no known marriage
Nancy and John lived in Oglethorpe from the time of their marriage until the early 1840s. They are noted as living in Clarke County in 1846 and 1847, and then by 1850 in Jackson County, Georgia.
By 1860, Nancy was living in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia with her sons Lorenzo and Andrew. Somehow Nancy was able to survive the carnage that occurred in Atlanta during the Civil War, and she is again noted as living there in 1870 with her sons Lorenzo and Andrew. We have no further record of residence for Nancy after 1870, and assume that she died not long after while living in Atlanta with her sons.
