Research findings for: Thomas Reed, originally of Campbell County, Virginia, for the period of 1782 – 1812. This information was extracted from various sources available at the LDS Family History Library, Salt Lake City, Utah.
17 Sep 1782 Joseph Anthony of Henry County to John Clark for 400 pounds, about 550 acres on the head waters of Beaver Creek and Seneca Creek, and bounded by Mary Reed (Reid), north side of Otter River, Clements. Signed: Joseph Anthony. Witness: J. Anthony, Jr, Micajah Terrell, James Shearer, Micajah Anthony, William Chandler, Jr, Molly Fear.
Anthony executed a deed to John Clark for 550 acres which was in the course of last year, and recorded and by which it was designed to convey the lands hereinafter described. But a course or courses of the lines being omitted, it is judged necessary by another conveyance to supply that omission. Now this deed therefore witnesses that said Joseph Anthony and Elizabeth, his wife, for 400 pounds, sell to John Clark all that tract of land patented to said Joseph Anthony by patent dated 20 Jul 1780, situated in Campbell and bounded by Mary Read, the north side of Otter River Road, Clement. Signed: Joseph Anthony, Elizabeth Anthony. Witness: John Lynch, John Ward, Jr, William Stanton. This deed was proved by the solemn affirmation of John Lynch and William Stanton (being of the people called Quakers), and by the oath of John Ward Jr, 3 of the witnesses.
1 Sep 1784 Mary Read of Charlotte County, to Thomas Faland for 18 pounds, about 300 acres, being part of tract of 1162 acres on both sides of Seneca Creek, and bounded John Weaver’s corner in the patent line. Signed: Mary Read. Witness: Thomas Read, Christopher Irvine, William (his X mark) Cuninham, Andrew Faland.
2 Sep 1784 Thomas Faland (late) to John Venable for 300 pounds, about 300 acres, being the same parcel of land conveyed unto said Faland by Mary Read by deed this day. The land is on both sides of Seneca Creek, and bounded by John Weaver’s corner in the patent line. Signed: Thomas Faland. Witness: None.
10 Sep 1786 Sarah Simpson to Edmund Johns for 50 pounds, one certain tract of land of 100 acres on the main Branch of Naked Creek. The land was conveyed to Sarah Simpson by deed from John Dixon. Signed: Sarah (X her mark) Simpson. Witness: James Miller, Jeremiah Rust, John Reid, Thomas Reid.
3 Nov 1786 John Bates of Buckingham County and Sarah, his wife, to Jessie Moorman, for 100 pounds, one certain tract of land about 380 acres on both sides of the Rough fork of Seneca Creek, and bounded by Ornsby. Signed: John Bates. Witness: John Venable, John Reid, Thomas Reid.
