ANCEL GREEN STEDMAN (Steadman) (13 Jan 1837 – 1914) was born in Chester County, South Carolina the son of Samuel Steadman and Martha Ann Thompson.

• David Samuel Steadman (1862 – 1932)

A brief biography of Ancel Green Stedman, author unknown.

Ancel Green Stedman was born January 13, 1837 in Chester County, South Carolina, the son of Samuel Stedman.  He married Margaret Waters at Louisville, South Carolina, November 25, 1857.  He joined the (Confederate) Army July 1862 and served in Company “C” 19^th Arkansas Regiment and was disbanded at Marshall, Texas, May 1865.  Rank: Private. 

July 31, 1863

(Consolidated with 19^th Arkansas Infantry)  Churchill’s Brigade, Cleburne’s Division, Hill’s Corps, Army of Tennessee.

In the final days of the War, the regiment was consolidated with the 1^st, 2^nd, 5^th, 6^th, 7^th, 8^th, 13^th, 15^th, and 19^th Arkansas Infantry and the 3^rd Confederate States Infantry to form the 1^st (Howell’s) Arkansas Consolidated Infantry.

He was a Democrat, a Presbyterian and died 1914.  Burial:  Hickory Springs Cemetery, Bradley County, Arkansas.
