JOHN SHIRLEY (1767 – 30 Apr 1837) was born in Virginia the son of John Shirley and Elizabeth Barmore.
John married Elizabeth Mitchell in 1787 in South Carolina. John and Elizabeth lived in Abbeyville, South Carolina where their five children of record were born:

- George D Shirley
- Elizabeth Shirley
- Thomas Harrison Shirley
John died on 30 Apr 1837 in Abbeyville, South Carolina.
