WALTER LAUREL REID (22 Nov 1882 – 29 Nov 1945) was born in Armuchee, Floyd County, Georgia the son of Marcus D Lafayette Reid and Nancy Elizabeth Duke.
Walter (Walt) lived with his family in Armuchee, Floyd County, Georgia until about 1885 when they moved to Davis County, Utah. Walter was living in Clinton, Davis County, Utah where he met and married Jennie Ward, a native French woman who, in 1888 at the age of 4, immigrated to the United States with her family.
According to census records, Walter and Jennie lived in Clinton, Davis County, Utah where their 3 sons and 2 daughters of record were born:
- Laurel (5 Jul 1903 – 8 Mar 1905) (buried in the Clinton City Cemetery, Clinton, Davis, Utah)
- Walter (1906 – 1980)
- Thelma Pearl (1907 – 1997)
- Bertha (1909 – 1937)
- Clifford (1911 – 1977)
Walter and Jennie and their children moved to Blackfoot, Bingham, Idaho sometime after Clifford’s birth in 1911. They appear in the Blackfoot, Idaho Census of 1920 and remained there at least through 1930.
Walter died on 29 Apr 1945 at age 63 in Lovelock, Nevada of suffocation from smoke from an accidental fire in the cabin he was living. He is buried in the Clinton City Cemetery, Clinton, Davis County, Utah.
My father, Walter Dow Garrison is the son of Thelma Pearl Reid and grandson of Walter Laurel Reid. He will turn 81 on november 20th of this year. He lives in Forestville, Ca.
