George Samuel Reid Family Roots

JACOB REID (REED) (1813 – Unknown) is listed in 1823 in an Oglethorpe County, Georgia poor school registry along with Elizabeth Reid, the youngest daughter of Jacob Reid and Elizabeth Mary Staton.

From this record, it is assumed that Jacob is the brother of Elizabeth Reid, and the son of Jacob and Elizabeth Mary Staton Reid. Family and other available public records of Jacob and Elizabeth Mary Staton Reid’s children and grandchildren support this assumption of parentage.

There is very little else known from public and family record about Jacob’s life. It is possible that the Jacob appearing in the poor school record in 1823 is also the Jacob Reid, a fortunate drawer in the 1832 Cherokee Land Lottery of Georgia.
