MARY REID (WILKERSON) (1812 – aft 1870) was born in Oglethorpe County, Georgia the daughter of Jacob Reid and Elizabeth Mary Staton.
Mary married William R. Wilkerson in Oglethorpe County, Georgia on 15 Jan 1830. Mary and William had 4 children of record, all born in Georgia:
- Martha Wilkerson (1832 – unknown), married James G Story 28 Dec 1848 in Pike County, Georgia
- Thomas W Wilkerson (1833 – unknown), married Susan Unknown about 1856 in Georgia
- Sophronia Wilkerson (1835 – unknown), no recorded marriage
- William J Wilkerson (1839 – 1864), married Lucinda Jane Hewell 13 Feb 1862 in Fayette County, Georgia
Mary and William are known to have lived with family in Oglethorpe and Pike County in the 1830s and 1840s. By 1850, Mary and William had moved to Pike County. Mary’s father, Jacob, is living there with her also.
Mary’s husband, William, died in 1859, and she is noted in the 1860 Census as living in Fayette County, Georgia after his death with her son William. Mary lived with, or near, one of her children until her death sometime after 1870.
